Luncheon Party

Bridal Party Luncheon

Often confused with a bridal shower, the bridal party luncheon is actually a party thrown by the bride to thank her bridal party – this includes, of course, the maid of honor and the bridesmaids – for being a part of the wedding.  While a bridal shower is organized to honor the bride, the bridal party luncheon is actually traditionally for the bridal party.  Traditions aside, however, it is now perfectly acceptable to use the terms “bridal shower” and “bridal party luncheon” interchangeably.  Simply put, these luncheons are a chance for the bride and her bridal party to have fun, get to know each other better, and finalize their end of the wedding plans.

Some standards in the bridal party luncheon includes the gifts and the giveaways.  Here, the bride may receive small presents from her party, and she would, in gratitude, present her party with little trinkets to be worn at the wedding (and which the bridal party could keep, if they so wish).  What’s wonderful about the bridal party luncheon is that it’s a girl’s party, and the host could go crazy with the girl-themes, as long as everyone involved is game.  A bridal party luncheon, it must be pointed out, should be comfortable for all the people attending.  It COULD be formal, but it should also be fun while at the same time making leeway for the more important details (like, perhaps, last-minute fittings).
